Brand Videology

How fun is this brand video from Gatorade?

It seems that visual storytelling is becoming more and more prevalent in the way we interact with brands. It is not enough to get a good deal on a product. We want to know where the products come from. What was the process behind them? Were they made with integrity?

But all designers know that storytelling is an art in itself. There are tall tales, exaggerations, fabrications...Will we be honest storytellers? Will companies have good stories to tell? I think the answer to these questions will pave the way for what products and services become successful.

Diesel Advertising Campaign: Be Stupid.

"Like balloons, we are filled with hopes and dreams. But. Over time a single sentence creeps into our lives. Don’t be stupid. It’s the crusher of possibility. It’s the worlds greatest deflator. The world is full of smart people. Doing all kind of smart things… Thats smart. Well, we’re with stupid." -Diesel

Stupid is smart according to fashion brand and jean manufacter, Diesel. Witty taglines coupled with bold photographs no doubt demand your attention but what are they saying? Be stupid. Love it or hate it this campaign got people talking. I happen to be the former, thinking that Diesel gets it... their audience anyway. These messages nailed a sentiment that resonates with my generation. We just want to have a great time. But is that smart or stupid?

Urban Influence Office Update!

It's time for an office space update! Its been 3 months since we settled in and the place is really feeling like home.The newest addition to the family includes our "green" room! Complete with a tree,turf and picnic table! This is our greatest effort to keep summer alive since fall as abruptly settled in overnight. Oh Seattle...Maybe our next addition with be a fireplace?? Smores anyone?

I love this video celebrating 100 years of fashion! Not only do the clothes change but notice the progression in music and dance style! Design invades all areas of life. Its fun to see the evolvement packed into a 100 second film short. I still can't decide which decade is my favorite...What is yours??
