Hello everybody! It's seems like it's been so long since I've posted here. Does anybody still read our posts?

Seattle Interactive Conference 2011

Timmy, the SIC mascot

SIC 2011 just wrapped up yesterday, and I spent the day going to talks by speakers from the worlds of UX, SEO, marketing, and branding. Like any convention, there were a lot of great talks going on simultaneously--it was hard to choose which ones to go to!

I've summarized some of what was talked about below, spanning mobile, design, SEO, and networking. Hopefully you get something out of it!

Shameless Promotion of a Product: Part XXIV – G-Star Havillard Clip Boots

Havillard 01

Okay, so Mike has on some wickedly awesome boots on this morning and it inspired me to post up these bad boys—just in time for the cold.

Meet the Lytro Light Field Camera

Lytro Camera

Conventional DSLR cameras capture light on a single plane, which makes for some amazing photography, but that's not the most advanced way of taking shots anymore.

Ribbon Type Specimen Book

Ribbon 04

Last week Dan Gneiding released his full typeface version of Ribbon, from Lost Type, and I was lucky enough to design a spread in the accompanying type specimen book. It's included in your order if you pay $30 or more for the font–sweet.

Perfectly Ugly

Miami Marlins circa 2012

It looks like the bastard child of a 1978 Vancouver Canucks jersey and a pack of Newport cigarettes. So it's no surprise that in the few weeks since it was "leaked", the new logo of the Miami Marlins (previously known as the Florida Marlins) has already taken a ruthless online drubbing. Admittedly, it's easy to hate.

Typeface of the Week: Antenna

Specimen

I've been working with Antenna recently—it's such a great typeface. Designed by Cyrus Highsmith in 2007, this versatile sans has been my bread and butter of late.

Design through the Decades

I love this video celebrating 100 years of fashion! Not only do the clothes change but notice the progression in music and dance style! Design invades all areas of life. Its fun to see the evolvement packed into a 100 second film short. I still can't decide which decade is my favorite...What is yours??

(Notice when the guy disappears during the 40's when he is off at war.)

A Break in Linear Process

As a newb in the design business and world, I am constantly being exposed to new methods, works, and ideas about graphic design. I am fresh in the game and still learning my own design process. I have somewhat of a morning routine of grabbing a cup of coffee, and browsing through countless design blogs looking at all the great stuff out there. I like to start my day with inspiration just as much as the next designer, however the image saturation is starting to stunt my growth.
